Im Afraid

of moving forward with my life. i have so many wonderful things in store and getting lined up. but i closer i come to executing those things the more nervous i get about them and it makes me not want to move. i am about to:
1 FINALLY start school
2 Get married
3 Get Reinstated
and i just feel that once those three things are done i will be happy and the top of my game. but then thats when things go wrong for me. usually when all is well i have sooo far to fall. and i am afraid of the trial that satan will throw my way. i am just determined to stay strong and pray so hard for strength. and to not stop going to school no matter what and not to stop going to my meetings no matter what! i just dont want to hurt. i just want my life to be good and stabe for once. i just fear that once i attain these goals the only place left for me to go is down. mmmmmm...i will pray to jehovah for fear not to be in my heart.

on a plus, my skin is getting better!!! YEAAA!!! i have been using black soap, shea butter and Ambi. its sooo smooth and getting even.

Uppity Poots (inspired by another blog)

i read another blog and it got me to thinking. about black people and what it means to be black. as i read it it made me think on my life. and how in school/ life (even now sometimes) i was told that i was "different" then most black people. and i was. my mother taught me how to speak well from a early age, to read books a,d value education, to love people and travel. my mother ALWAYS spoke proper english. and by chance she married a white man. and to this DAY people call her phoney because she doesnt speak like most "black people". they make like she thinks shes better then most blacks because of this, or shes trynna be something eles. now i dont speak as properly as she does, but you can deffinately tell i am my mothers child. lol. but i have never understood this mentality of certain black people that you have to speak like a bafoon in order to not be considered phoney. or you have to live by this stupid "hood code" in order to be considered lagit. it always annoyed me that because i didnt grow up in the projects living by the hood code of ethics and speaking like a idiot that THAT meant i wasnt black enough or i thougt i was uppity. i went through ALOT in my life. my mother worked THREE jobs to keep me in a decent nieghborhood. and she always taught me the value of speaking well, reading, and writting, and hard work. because there IS more to the world then the hood. and you CAN grow out of that and use your reading, writting and speaking skills to get you out of it.
My mother raised me listening to artists like Yanni (classical music), eatting different ethnic foods and being around different cultures. but THAT was NEVER to say i am not black, or trying to be a different culture. because just the same as she exposed me to those things EVERY year we went BAAAAACK down SOUTH to the back woods of Georgia and pulled corn, stayed in shacks and enjoyed our SOUTHERN, BLACK family. we listened to peabo bryson, phyllis hyman, anita baker ect. i would say she had a healthy balance.
i will do the EXACT same thing with poots. God forbid we should have hard times and live to struggle and live in not the best of places. but i will always teach her to speak proper english and dont care what people think. shoot, if you want to eat wit hchop stix DO SO. lol. i will let her listen to different world music, and teach her things OTHER then HOOD stuff. lol. i feel if she is raised in that enviroment due to cercumstances it is important for her to develope and live by a code to survive, but she will be christian first. andi hate it when people say "i got to survive THESE STREETS" no, my CHILD wont be in the streets. so that cutes down a lot of riff raff right there. children have no business in the street. during the school week she will be in the house and on the weekend in the house by the time the street lights come on. and when i look out the window i better see her. lmaooo. sorry i went off topic.anyway i said ALLLLLLLLLL of that to say that people will probably accuse poots of the same thing. accuse her of thinking she uppity because she's in the house as opposed to out runnin around, tease her because she wears a natural, and speaks well. she'll be strong. i'll raise her to not care

Acne Lessons

Your acne is an important message from your body . Your body is trying to tell you something VITAL is going wrong. Here’s what I mean by that…

When something start to go wrong in your body your body sends you a message. You may feel a little nausea, or a pain somewhere, or indigestion...something small.

Now you either hear the message and make some changes or you don't. If you don't hear it then…
Your acne is only an external message
to a much deeper INTERNAL problem

If you don't listen to this message your acne is trying to send you and do something about it, not only will you suffer from acne and acne scars, but you may also suffer from yet an ever increasing severity of hormonally related diseases down the road such as...

PMS
Hair loss (both male and female)
Prostate problems
Any disease associated with high estrogen levels...such as female problems, female cancers, and endometriosis.
Well, the reason you're getting acne now is because your system is not "deactivating" and clearing excess and "used" hormones from your body very effectively. And as a result…

Your hormones are way out of balance!

having an exact understanding of just what is causing your acne challenge is vital before you can understand how to get rid of your acne once and for all.
The ROOT cause of your acne

No, the root cause of your acne isn't bacteria (if it was then acne would be highly contagious, which it isn't).

The root cause of your acne isn't the wrong diet (if it was then everyone eating the "wrong" diet would suffer from acne).

Nor is your acne caused by many of the common "causes" you may read about on the web.
The very ROOT cause of your acne is 2 things and 2 things only...

…Hormonal imbalance combined with a very particular type of congesting toxins that buildup in your blood and lymph fluid.

you won't get acne until you mix excess sebum (skin oil) with a very particular kind of highly congesting blood and lymph fluid toxins.
This mixture of excess skin oil, sebum, and highly congesting blood toxins creates the perfect "breeding environment" in and on your skin for acne bacteria to grow like crazy...causing redness, inflammation, swelling, puss, clogged pores, and finally full blown acne.
You see it's not bacteria that cause acne but the environment that's created in and on your skin that causes the trouble. And no matter how many acne bacteria killing products you try acne bacteria will always return.
The difference between you and your friend with perfect skin isn't because they eat a different diet, or take different vitamins, or have a different skin care regimen...No it’s nothing like that.

The difference is they are never "overflowing" their system with excess androgenic hormones and a very particular kind of highly congesting blood and lymph fluid toxins.

Their liver is quickly deactivating and clearing from their blood any excess and/or previously "used" androgenic hormones and blood toxins.

They have much stronger liver function in this regard.

Why women suffer from acne most
during their monthly cycle

This is also why women suffer from acne most during their monthly cycle...

During your monthly cycle your body is producing all kinds of extra hormones at this time. Yet your liver still only has so much ability to deactivate and clear any excess and used hormones from your system.

So your cycle roles around and your liver gets flooded with all these extra hormones at one time...

It can't keep up!

The end result is the same...androgenic hormones get out of balance causing the skin's oil glands to produce way too much sebum. And when combined with a very particular type of congesting blood toxins acne flares.

Adult acne...What's going on here?

O.k. then Mr. Smarty Pants...If hormones and these particular blood toxins are causing acne then why do adults get acne?

Good question. Now you're thinking...

The root cause of ALL acne, be it teenage acne, acne that flares during women's monthly cycles, or adult acne are all the same...hormonal imbalance and excess of a particular kind of congesting blood and lymph toxins.

But the major difference with adult acne is that it isn't so much a surge of hormones overwhelming the liver all at once, but more so it's that the liver's ability to deactivate "used" and excess hormones from the blood and purify the blood of toxins becomes severely compromised...or slowed down.

The end result is still the same...the liver gets overwhelmed. Which leads to excess androgenic hormones and congesting blood toxins. Which leads to adult acne
"I don't care what anybody tells you...to beat your acne challenge you simply MUST bring hormones into balance...
Anyway, these prostaglandins transfer "instructions" from the cells to the hormones. Without them, it is like a conductor trying to lead a blind orchestra.

Just think of them as hormone regulators.

If you don't have enough of the KEY prostaglandins then your hormones get way out of balance. But your body is very efficient at making these hormone regulators if it has enough of a very particular key nutrient.

The first step then to lasting hormonal balance is to ensure your body has enough of this key nutrient and most importantly in the right balance. And from the right sources.
The hormonal balancing effect is not only vital for beating your acne, but also drastically reducing or eliminating PMS symptoms, reducing body-fat (so commonly caused by excess stress hormones), and maintaining or building lean muscle
Think of it this way...

Your body is constantly making hormones. Think of those as a river (hormones) flowing into a pond (your internal system). Then your body is constantly "deactivating" and getting rid of these hormones after they have been "used"...

Think of that as the stream of water running out of the pond.

But what would happen if you dammed up the stream of water leaving the pond?

The “pond” would overflow and flood the surroundings.

Well, that's what happens if something stops excess and "used" hormones from "flowing" out of your system?

They get “all out of balance”…leading to acne and many other chronic hormonally related health problems.
How your body “deactivates” hormones

First hormones are produced by various glands throughout your system. These hormones are then transported to the various hormone receptors throughout your system where they cause their effect.

Think of the hormones themselves as "keys" and hormone receptors as "key holes". They will only "fit" in the hormone receptor they are designed for.

Anyway, what happens after these hormones are "used" by the hormone receptors?

They are then transported by your blood and lymph to your liver. Your liver then "deactivates" them by adding another piece to them so they can't "fit" into any hormonal receptor "key holes".

These deactivated hormones are then expelled by your bowels and kidneys.

Don't worry about understanding all this perfectly. Just get the basic concept here...

Hormones must get "deactivated" and then get
out of your system after they have been used or they will become chronically imbalanced.

Aloe Vera

Break off a leaf of Aloe Vera from plant; the gel-like liquid inside the leaf when applied to acne pimples helps heal acne faster and without scarring. Can also be used to wash entire face to keep skin looking healthy and to prevent acne in the first place.

No doubt about it aloe vera WILL help your skin heal from the damage cause by your acne. It WILL lesson redness and swelling. And it WILL improve the overall health of your skin.

But it WON’T cure acne.

No topical or external acne treatment can cure acne. The only way to do that is internally.

Using aloe vera and jojoba these herbal ingredients work to cure dry scalps and dry hair. Aloe vera works as a natural moisturizer that moistens the scalp at the deepest level, leaving you feeling fresh and ready for anything. Try some of these aloe vera hair care shampoos and experience the best of aloe vera.

Beauty Health & Healing From the Ancient Herb Aloe Vera

The saying “Beauty comes from Within,” takes on a literal meaning or fact - once you know how Aloe Vera works in the body when you drink it! Yes you can safely drink Aloe Vera. Within weeks you can see a more vibrant glow of youthfulness and feel healthier from this ancient Egyptian herb of the past. Writings say Cleopatra Queen of Egypt used Aloe Vera herself. Smart woman if I do say so!

Many people have experienced the healing powers of the Aloe Vera plant when applied topically to a cut or burn. Yet the reason it works is not commonly known. Research shows us there are five natural occurring anti-inflammatory agents that exist along with growth factors located in the plant. They work together quickly to relieve pain sensations, reverse scarring and speed healing miraculously! The healing magic of drinking Aloe Vera is also supported through scientific research and ancient writings of traditional use of the plant. First and foremost Aloe Vera is classified as an herbal bitter. The bitter portions of the plant also known as anthraquinones are located just under the outer leaf. So if you drink the Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate – still containing the bitter yellow sap as nature provides in the plant itself – you will receive this wonderful digestive bitter. Be aware that products that state they remove aloin and aloe emodin are void of the bitter properties from Aloe Vera.

In my clinical practice I found adults and children were lacking in their ability to digest foods properly. Taken before meals this slightly pungent juice Aloe Vera - stimulates digestive juices to flow properly into the stomach and small intestines. Gastric juices are essential to break down the foods we eat for absorption into the cells. Aloe Vera helps the stomach, liver and pancreas to work properly for digestion on every level .Harvard Medical School has proven in their studies on aging that desired hydrochloric acid (HCL) levels in the stomach reduce dramatically as people age. This is one reason why increased digestive disorders are found in the elderly. People get heartburn, gas, indigestion and even reflux when they are not secreting proper gastric juices. When we lack our digestive health we do not absorb properly and can experience a myriad of poor health conditions to include; premature aging of the skin, gum disease, acne, psoriasis, fatigue, allergies, immunity imbalances and even osteoporosis. Our health does depend on what foods we eat yet very importantly the amounts we absorb into the cells daily. See for yourself as I have - how the body can rebuild itself and reverse aging from the inside out by drinking a quality Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate daily. To optimize health and beauty we must optimize our digestion!

Acne

Acne consists of skin blemishes and pustules on the face and body. Acne is greatly effected by digestion, glandular health and nutrition. For best results avoid fried foods and sweets. Include more vegetables in the diet. Drink Aloe Vera juice before meals and apply a therapeutic Aloe Vera Skin Gel with no water added on the skin twice daily to restore the acid pH needed for healthy skin. Apply the Skin Gel after washing the face and body properly. Aloe Vera is an astringent which closes the pores. Apply a moisturizer after the skin gel to maintain proper protection of the skin and prevent over production of the oil glands. Aloe helps to reverse scarring. Avoid constipation by drinking plenty of water and eating scrubbing vegetables such as carrots and celery or apples. For more helpful information reference the sections Diet and Candida in the book Gift Of Nature by Karen Masterson-Koch, C.N..

Recommended Aloe Life Support Nutrients:

Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate, Ultimate Skin Gel, Daily Greens Formula, Recommended Special Product Picks: Cal Mag Zinc, B-Complex, Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, Famil E, Ester C, Jarrodophilus Powder, Fiber Mate, Udo's Choice Essential Fatty Acid Oil.

Other Recommended Nutrients: Protein (half your weight and eat that many grams daily).

To do a more vigorous cleanse for the skin add Aloe Life Detox Plus Formula and Capryllic Acid Tablets but wait at least six months after starting the other cleanse because it is already very detoxifying and you don't want to overload your body too fast.

Drink 32-64oz of water daily and expose the skin to sunshine whenever possible. This is a very effective program and you should have wonderful results. When starting a cleansing program the skin usually gets a little worse while the toxins are being stirred up and trying to escape through the tissues. This is a good sign it means that you are cleansing, stick with it and it will clear leaving soft radiant skin!

Eczema, Psoriasis & Skin Health

Skin health is achieved through addressing two crucial factors. First an individual must optimize how the body works. Second an individual must maximize the body to build healthy lining cells that cover the body on the inside and out. Several areas must be implemented for success when rebuilding the health of the skin. These include daily nutrition, drinking water, optimizing digestion, correcting constipation and liver functions, exercise and balancing the immune system. I have found through years of professional experience including counseling thousands of individuals that you can reverse poor health and minimize or eliminate prescription medicine through optimizing the functioning of your body. The ancient herb Aloe Vera speeds the regenerative process for healthier skin faster. Drinking Aloe Vera and applying a Skin Gel topically works as a catalyst in reaching your health goals.

Factors That Improve Skin Health

Diet - Include nutritious foods with quality proteins and vegetables daily.

As tolerated eat 3-6 servings of protein foods including; whole grain cereals, brown rice and breadstuff that contain good fiber, yogurt, beans, fish, (salmon, etc.) lean meats, yams, red potatoes, raw nuts and seeds (nut & seed butters), and eggs.

Include 5-11 servings of dark green and orange vegetables which give more Vitamin A (beta carotene); important for building healthy lining cells, supporting immune function, vision and fighting infection. Carrots, yellow squash, yams, broccoli, garlic, leafy greens like chard and kale are excellent for steaming and contain high amounts of Vitamin E and Minerals including Sulfur which are important for collagen repair. Use dark green lettuce like Romaine for salads and sandwiches and use a rainbow of vegetables like celery, radishes ( red & white), carrots, purple & green cabbage, beets, etc. in salads to keep the bowels regular too. Add a natural green fiber supplement like Fiber Mate by Aloe Life to optimize waste removal from the body.

Avoid overeating. Keep junk foods low. Especially harmful for the skin are sugar, alcohol, and fried foods. Chew your foods well before swallowing. Include a vegetable supplement like Healthy and Slim Daily Greens by Aloe Life to help with your intake of these valuable foods for the skin. ( Gluten intolerance located primarily in whole grains may contribute to poor skin conditions in some people. Experiment with eating the IBS ( Irritable Bowl Syndrome) diet for one month found in the digestive section on the website and see if you notice a faster improvement.)

Water - Drink larger amounts of water; 6-8 glasses and beverages in between meals. Drink only small amounts of liquids at meal times so you will not dilute your existing digestive juices.

The body is 75% water by mass. It needs water daily to provide the medium to support glandular function of the liver and other organs of the body which are involved in healthy skin. Water carries nutrition into the skin and allows waste products to be eliminated. The lack of water or dehydration causes the skin to age faster. Drinking your daily water of 6-8 glasses will increase your energy and keep the cells plump improving the cellular metabolism and provide a youthful appearance.

Digestion - Many people lack proper digestive juices to fully break down foods and supplements. The digestive system includes; enzymes and gastric juices found in the mouth, stomach, pancreas, and liver.

It is not normal to observe whole pieces of food passing in the stool. Yet many people with chronic illness experience this. Poor digestion can take place even at a more microscopic level in the stomach, small intestines, and the liver itself. Harvard and Tuft University have found that adults over the age of 60 have a dramatically lower level of HCL (hydrochloric acid) flowing in the stomach. I have found lower than desirable levels in young children and most adults as well. Low HCL prevents the proper digestion of protein and minerals very crucial for healthy and vibrant skin. The pancreas can under function with a poor diet and lack of exercise. The primary purpose of the pancrease gland is to make insulin and digestive enzymes. Insulin encourages healthy glucose absorption for proper energy to be made in the cells. The enzymes are designed to break down food once it leaves the stomach and goes into the small intestine. Also a lazy liver can cheat us of proper bile flow into the duodenum. Bile further digests our important fat soluble vitamins like A, E, K and the Essential Fats that must be present to build skin cells and to support our glandular system.

To maximize your digestive juices chew your food well before swallowing. Don't over eat. Better to eat 3-6 smaller meals rather than one huge one. Relax at meal times the very best you can. Take an herbal bitter like Aloe Life Whole Leaf Aloe Juice Concentrate available in juice or tablet before meals to stimulate digestive juices to flow properly.

Constipation & Liver Function - Make daily regularity your number one assignment for improving the health of your skin. Regardless of any contrary advice the body was designed to eliminate after every meal.

The body is a perfect design yet it doesn't always work perfectly. When you are not eliminating daily, toxic waste builds up in the tissues, lymphatic system and large intestines. Some researchers say bowel can have up to 400 different bad bacteria that can contribute to sluggish health. Also with constipation a natural occurring fungus called Candida Albicans can over grow throughout the intestinal track causing mucus build up. The fungus appears as a white to gray coating on the tongue and seems to block absorption in the small intestines of valuable nutrients. This congestion in the bowel puts a load on the entire lymphatic system including the liver. The lymph and liver work together in removing waste from all of the cells in the body including the blood. The liver is important for over 5000 processes and paramount in the final processing of fat-soluble vitamins, protein, and essential fats that keeps the body and skin healthy. This is why all skin conditions including Rashes, Boils, Acne, Premature Aging, Eczema, and Psoriasis are related to a healthy functioning liver. Correct constipation and you will feel better and your skin will stay healthier.

Exercise - Moving the body increases circulation of the blood, oxygen, and lymph system. Exercise also improves the body's muscle tone, glandular function, negative stress hormones and helping regulate immune function. All types of aerobic exercise add to benefit of moving the body for example walking, marching in place, stretching, running, biking, swimming, etc. 10-45 minutes daily will speed your skin recovery.

Immune System - Balance of the Immune System function is very important in the body. Some people have low immune function with Cancer and viral conditions, etc. and others have an over stimulated immune function termed auto immune with Eczema, Psoriasis, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, M.S. etc.

Skin Care - Aloe vera is used in many skin care products like microdermabrasion creams, Lotions, Lip Balm, Soap and aloe gel for sunburn because of it's beneficial healing and regenenerative properties.

In Eczema and Psoriasis researchers believe the rough, dry scaly patches of skin or small blisters are related to an over active immune system. Through striving to balance the immune function nutritionally through healthier foods, nutritional supplements and a healthier lifestyle (exercise, etc.) you will begin to see improvements. For many they have totally reversed their skin symptoms yet give your body 3-6 months to make significant changes. For some it may take 1-3 years to build healthier skin cells. Do your best each day and remember health is truly our greatest wealth!

Shea Butter

While you may have only recently heard of Shea Butter, its use is far from a recent development. The benefits of Shea Butter have been well known for centuries. Africans have used Shea Butter for many generations to protect and rejuvenate their hair and skin. Shea Butter is not only for those of African descent though. Everyone can take advantage of Shea Butter's benefits. Today, Shea Butter is available in pure form and as an ingredient in many products to help with maintenance of the hair and skin and relief from many common ailments.

What is Shea Butter?
Shea Butter is only found in the tropics of Africa. It is extracted from the nuts of the Shea-Karite tree which begins to bear fruit after about 15 years; and can take up to 30 years to bear a quality crop of nuts with a high content of irremovable fatty acid. It is this irremovable fatty acid that gives Shea Butter its unique healing properties and makes it far superior to cocoa butter and other vegetable butters. Traditionally, Shea Butter was extracted by people who picked the nuts, cracked them, grilled them and pounded them. They were boiled in water for hours until the Shea Butter rose to the surface. It was then scooped into gourds and left to cool and set. Shea Butter is solid at room temperature although it quickly liquefies right around body temperature. This Shea Butter is called unrefined Shea Butter or raw Shea Butter. Since Shea Butter is an all natural product, it can vary widely in quality, appearance and smell depending on where it is produced from and how it is refined or extracted.

Most Shea Butter comes from West Africa. Although a more soft and smoother variety from East Africa is beginning to appear on the market.

How can I tell if something is good Shea Butter?
Pure Shea Butter can be found in three types of extractions. Also, recently, Shea Butter has begun to be graded.

Raw or unrefined- extracted using water. The color ranges from like cream (similar to whipped butter) to grayish yellow. This is the original form of Shea Butter.
Refined- is more highly processed. Has many of its natural components still intact.
Highly refined or processed- solvents are used to increase the yield (hexane is an example). The color is pure white.

How should Shea Butter smell?
Shea Butter has a natural smell, which is not unpleasant to most people. The smell of raw or lightly refined West African Shea varies from nutty to similar to Crisco® or shortening. Over time the smell of the Shea Butter will diminish. If an unrefined Shea Butter has almost no smell, it is probably getting old. Shea Butter should not stink, not matter how old it is. It is possible for Shea Butter to go rancid. If it does, do not use it. If you do not like the smell of natural, raw Shea Butter, you can purchase more highly refined Shea Butter that has been de-odorized and filtered through clay. However, we do not recommend ever buying Shea Butter that has been refined using hexane or other solvents.

How do I store Shea Butter?
Shea Butter does not need to be refrigerated. However, over a period of two or three years, the Shea Butter will begin to lose some of its effectiveness. As the natural ingredients begin to break down, some of the healing benefits will be reduced, but the Shea Butter will continue to be an effective moisturizer. Store Shea Butter is a cool (not necessarily cold) place. If you're going to use it within a couple of years, you should have no problems.

My Shea Butter melted
One of the great things about Shea Butter is its low melting point. When you apply it to your skin, it literally liquefies. However, one of the bad things about Shea Butter is its low melting point. It's quite possible it will melt in a hot room. It may even be melted when it's delivered to you in the summer months. If this happens, don't worry. The Shea Butter is good. Just take the lid off of the container and set it in the refrigerator until it gets hard again. As it begins to cool, you might want to give it a stir to bring the olein (liquid parts) back into contact with the stearin (solid parts) so that the Shea Butter is uniform throughout.

What color should my Shea Butter be?
The color of unrefined Shea Butter depends on the Shea nuts used. Shea nuts will vary in color from almost white to yellow. Therefore, refined Shea Butter will vary in color. You will not be able to determine the authenticity or quality of Shea Butter based strictly on its color. There is even a naturally golden yellow colored Shea Butter. Shea Butter should never be green, extremely hard or greasy though. Most Shea Butter is a creamy color. Shea Butter that is pure white is highly refined and may or may not have its healing properties intact depending on how it was refined.

How can Shea Butter benefit me? Shea Butter can provide relief from everything from just dry skin to many minor dermatological diseases (if you have a serious skin condition, you should see a doctor). It has been clinically shown to provide benefits. Here are some of the benefits of Shea Butter for the skin:

How does Shea Butter benefit my skin?
Shea Butter nourishes the skin with Vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E help maintain the skin and keep it clear and healthy. They are particularly helpful for sun damaged skin. They help prevent premature wrinkles and facial lines. Vitamin F acts as a skin protector and rejuvenator. It soothes rough, dry or chapped skin and helps soften dry or damaged hair. Shea Butter is high in unsaponifiables (a type of fat). Shea Butter has between 7-12% unsaponifiables. For comparison, avocado oil, a well known skin conditioner, has between 2-6%. This high level of unsaponifiables is one of the properties that makes Shea Butter so invaluable in treating the conditions listed above. Also, Shea Butter easily penetrates the skin allowing the skin to breathe and not clogging pores. Shea Butter has a high level of cinnamic acid, a natural sun screen. So, it provides some degree of protection from the sun. Shea Butter is also anti-inflammatory making it useful in treating rheumatism.

While we make no medical claims about our Shea Butter, we do have anecdotal evidence that it is very useful in treating minor skin conditions. We have had several customers who have used Shea Butter for eczema and/or psoriasis and told us it works as well as steroids at a fraction of the cost and without the side effects. We have a customer with an allergy to the sun. When she began using our Nubian Heritage Shea Butter lotion (not even pure Shea Butter), she accidentally discovered that it prevented the rash she normally would get from even a small amount of exposure to the sun.

How does Shea Butter benefit my hair?
Shea Butter provides moisture to dry or damaged hair from the roots to the very tips, repairing and protecting against weather damage, dryness and brittleness. It also absorbs quickly and completely into the scalp to rehydrate without clogging pores. It is particularly beneficial for processed and heat-treated hair. It is an excellent treatment for dry scalp. It restores luster to damaged hair.

Is all Shea Butter the same?
All Shea Butter is not the same. Shea Butter loses some of its healing properties as it sits on the shelf, so very old Shea Butter is not as beneficial. Refining techniques will vary. Highly processed Shea Butter will not be as effective. Sometimes Shea Butter is mixed with other ingredients that reduce its benefits. Then, there are those products that add very little Shea Butter but prominently display "Shea Butter" on the label. While Shea Butter is not very expensive, you should be aware of products that claim to provide the benefits of Shea Butter and sell for very low prices. Many manufacturers are taking advantage of the Shea Butter buzz by adding a little Shea Butter to a very inexpensive product implying you can get the benefits of Shea Butter in their product.

Treasured Locks takes care to source our Shea Butter only from reputable sources to ensure freshness, quality and the refining technique to ensure there are no contaminants and that the "good stuff" is left in.
What can I tell by looking at the label?
Ingredients on the label should be listed in the order from the ingredient that is the most to the least. Therefore, you should look for Shea Butter products that list Shea Butter early on the list of ingredients. You should know the ingredients before you buy any Shea Butter product and should buy from a reputable source. The more Shea Butter in a product, the greater the likelihood, you will receive the full benefits of Shea Butter.

Where can I get good Shea Butter?
You can get quality Shea Butter products right here. We carry a wide variety of products from pure Shea Butter to Shea Butter lotions, soaps and lip balm. Just click on the Shea Butter Products button on the left to see our full selection. All of the Shea Butter we carry is of the highest quality. We are very selective about where we obtain our Shea Butter and the extraction methods used. We will not accept any Shea Butter that has been extracted using solvents. As of June, 2004, we have found a source of Grade A Shea Butter. This is certified to be of the highest quality by an independent laboratory. You can find cheaper Shea Butter and Shea Butter products. But, you will not find better ones. Our Shea Butter products use copious amounts of Shea Butter. Some of the major manufacturers are jumping on the Shea Butter bandwagon now by adding small amounts of Shea Butter to their products. Don't be fooled by this. Our pure Shea Butters are of the highest grade, from our ultra pure refined shea butter to our 100% Pure Natural Shea Butter to our East African Shea Butter from Uganda.

What's the difference between raw Shea butter, refined Shea butter and highly refined Shea Butter?
The differences between raw, refined and highly refined Shea Butter lie in how the Shea Butter is extracted from the nut and how it is processed after that. Manual extraction processes leave more of the raw ingredients in the Shea Butter. After it is extracted, it can be further refined removing color and impurities that some people don't like. This further refining can also remove some of the smell. You can think of the difference between raw Shea Butter and refined Shea Butter as being similar to the difference between wheat bread and white bread. Truly raw Shea Butter can even be unfiltered. That is one end of the spectrum. On the other end, there is Shea Butter that is extracted using chemicals that is pure white, has no smell and has lost a lot of its healing properties in the process.

All of our Shea Butter is mechanically extracted. No chemicals (other than water) are used in the process. Our raw Shea Butter is lightly filtered. But, retains its natural color and smell. Our Ultra Pure Shea Butter is refined. It is further processed by being put through clay filters and the odor is vacuumed out. It retains its healing properties and moisturizing ability.

Do I want raw Shea Butter or Refined Shea Butter?
This is really a matter of preference. I prefer raw Shea Butter. Unless you do not like the smell of Shea Butter, we recommend you go with raw. The more the Shea Butter is processed, the higher the chance some of the "good stuff" is going to be removed. Certainly, none of the healing or moisturizing properties of Shea Butter are enhanced by the further processing to make it white and odorless. If you do not like the smell of Shea Butter, try to get refined Shea Butter that is refined without the use of solvents. Or, you could try the East African Shea Butter, which has a much milder aroma than West African Shea Butter.

What about East African Shea Butter?

There is some confusion as to which shea butter is better, West African (Vitellaria Paradoxa) or East African (Vitellaria Nilotica). East African Shea Butter is different from that of the West African varieties in that it is higher in olein (the liquid part of the Shea Butter). Because of this, East African Shea Butter is softer and more fragrant than West African Shea Butter. The product is highly valued and gives Ugandan women farmers over five times the amount received by their West African counterparts. East African or Ugandan Shea Butter has a higher absorption rate due to lower saturated fatty acids. East African Shea Butter has less vitamin A and less sterols. For a natural vitamin A cream or to use for prevention of stretch marks, you might want to use West African Shea Butter. However, if you are looking for natural, intense moisturize, East African Shea Butter is the way to go.

East African or Ugandan Shea Butter is more rare than West African Shea Butter and is extremely difficult to find. When you do find it, it is selling up to the equivalent of $40 per two ounce jar on some websites. We are pleased that we can offer this premium quality Shea Butter to you at an extremely competitive price.

Ugandan Shea Butter is excellent for dry knees, elbows, rough hands and dry scalp. It is especially helpful for dry scalp, dermatitis eczema, sunburn and as a lip balm.

With mango butter you need not worry about such things because it is 100% natural. It is packed full of beneficial antioxidants to keep your skin looking smooth and young, and helping to prevent its destruction by the free-radical generating industrial and traffic pollution, the pesticides that surround us due to modern agricultural techniques, the ubiquitous tobacco smoke and even the sun's rays.

Green Tea

Green tea has proved to be anti-bacterial that reduces inflammation, decreases hormone activity, capable of killing the potentially deadly Staphylococcus Aureus and the bacteria that cause Bacterium acne.

Green tea's antioxidants have been shown to be highly beneficial to acne prevention. These antioxidants help your body to fight against free radicals that cause damage to cells and tissues in your body. Green tea therapy is less toxic and has fewer or no side effects as compare to other drug based products.

But benzoyl peroxide dries out skin causing itching or allergic reactions. Unlike green tea that has the added advantages of natural anti-bacterial properties and antioxidants, particularly epigallocatechin gallate which is 200 times more powerful than vitamin E at fighting free radicals.

Green tea also helps to reduce inflammation, hormonal activity and aids in detoxification - which is all good news for acne sufferers.

Green tea extract is an extremely versatile herbal supplement - it can be administered topically, often being used in creams, taken as a in the form of a pill or incorporated into your diet and drunk as a tea.

This last method is very popular (Green Tea with Honeysuckle is often known as 'Pimple Tea' in many Chinatowns) when drunk after a meal it aids digestion and helps to detoxify your system, getting rid of the toxins that can cause acne. Tip: don't drink it with sugar, this will neutralize the worthwhile effects of the tea.

It seems that taking green tea for acne is a win-win situation. It has many beneficial properties which promote good all-round health with little or no known side effects and for the price, green tea it's definitely a herbal treatment that's worth trying.

This Blog

was put in place on this inter net super freeway as a way for me to level wit hother women ging through what i do. i write how i feel, i write truth and that will NEVER change. but what i hate is when someone reads my blog and gets mad at me and approaches me about something i wrote. its HOW I FEEL. and i am entitled to feel any way i want to. dont come at me with "well i read on your blog..." or "is this how you REALLY feel?" or "someone read something on your blog and it..." or " lemme ask you this, cause i read on your blog that you feel..." all of these quotes are ALWAYS followed by something negative.ITS ANNOYING. i write for thearpy and most of the time i need that therapy when i am angry. i write when i am angry, now granted i know not toi put anything too private up because it is a public domain, but what i write is not up for discussion or critism by friends or family. what i want is for young moms, in relationships to read it and read how i get trough my life because maybe they will be able to take some helpful points
i guess what i am getting at is if my family or friends read this and it is osmething in it about you you dont like.....OH WELL. i didnt do it, YOU DID. i dont make stuff up about people. i tell the truth about events that happen then i write how i feel. and i have every right to do that...if you lont like it...dont do anything to piss me off and you wont have to worry about reading how i feel...or gently dont read it, and whatever you do after reading how i feel dont come to me later and ask me questions or tell me how wrong i am!!!
