BOOK: Eat. Pray. Love by Liz Gilbert

i jumped on the bandwagon and read this book. and i personally LOVED it! it was whitty, and intreguing to me. I did feel that her story was little too Disney fairy tailish for true life, which was odd...but good for her. I love Disney Fairy tale endings, although i do realize that every movie and story cant end lke that, i lke when they do. At the end of the day, i felt good after reading this book.
So i decided to go ahead and get the movie this weekend and i watched it Saturday...and OMGGGGGG was it a EPIC FAIL!! i hated it!! First off, i dont cae for Julia Andrews, i felt there could have been a better choice in actress to pray Liz. Then my main thought during the movie was "thank god i read the book first", because i wouldnt have understood much of the movie had i not. The movie just didnt make sense to me without the book, i was able to glue a lot of pieces together with my book knowledge.
SO i would say READ the book!!! SKIP the movie!

BOOK: The Space Between Us by Thirty Umrigar

Thirty has quickly become one of my favorite authors. i was never one to read books from authors who were'nt black...not on PURPOSE...it just sort of happened that way. i was always under the false impression that african american authors were the best authors. so because of my self imposed prejudice i missed out on sooo much. But lately i have embarked on this love obsession with india. i have dreams of india, i think of india, and indian culture, life in india...its gotten to be quit redivulous. lol. so the past two books i have read , have filled my indian love cup to the brim and over flowed it just a little. but i love licking the edge. loool.

The Space Between Us tells te story of two women, one (Bhima)who is a servent to the other (Sera). and how the lives, although different on the outside arent REALLY that different on the inside, given they are both women in a male dominated country. The book started off kindof slow for me, but due to my OCD-ish twitch of not being able to put down ANY book no matter how TERRIBLE once i'v started reading it , it got better, and i was happy by the middle. However, the ending was a bit of a let down to me, but i believe thats MY personal issue of having to have EVERY movie and book end like a Disney fairytale. sorry.
